Japan's crude steel output up by 44.4% YOY in Jun

Japan produced about 8.11 million tons of crude steel in June, down by 3.7% MOM but up by 44.4% YOY, according to data released by Japan Iron and Steel Federation.
Japan's ordinary steel products output was around 6.27 million tons in June, down by 2.9% MOM but up by 36.3% YOY; and its special steel products increased to around 1.84 million tons, down by 6.4% MOM but up by 81.0% YOY.
In that month, Japan's converter steel output was about 6.00 million tons, down by 5.2% from last month while up by 47.4% from the same period last year; electric furnace steel output reached about 2.10 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 36.4% and a month-on-month increase of 0.8%.
In June, Japan's hot-rolled steel coil production was about 3.29 million tons, down by 2.0% MOM but up by 49.7% YOY; H-beam production was 321,300t, up by 11.0% YOY and 0.7% MOM respectively.
In June, Japan produced about 5.82 million tons of pig iron, a decrease of 4.9% from last month but an increase of 39.1% from the same period last year.
From January to June 2021, Japan produced a total of about 48.06 million tons of crude steel, an increase of 13.8% year-on-year.
