UK extends valid term of safeguard measures on certain steel products

On June 30, 2021, the Department for International Trade of UK announced to extend the valid term of safeguard measures worldwide on 15 types of certain steel products
On October 1, 2020, in response to the application from the Secretary of State for International Trade of UK, UK launched an investigation for the transition of safeguard measures to check whether the safeguard measures on steel products should be adjusted, extended or cancelled or not after the end of Brexit transition period from 23:00 GMT of December 31, 2020. On May 21, 2021, the Committee on Safeguard of WTO released the safeguard measures bulletin submitted by the British delegation, noting that TRID of UK made the final safeguard measures ruling on imported steel products.
. In particular, the valid term of measures on 10 types of these steel products will extend three years and the term for measures on the other five types will extend one year . The measures will set up quotas and impose a 25% tariff on imports that exceed quotas.
