Japan steel imports up by 7.6% YOY in Apr

According to data from Japan Iron & Steel Federation, the country imported 716,000t of steel in April, up by 7.6% YOY. In particular, it imported 394,000t of carbon steel, up by 5.5% YOY.
As for main types of imported steel in April, Japan imported 108,000t of hot-rolled wide steel strips and 82,000t of cold-rolled wide steel strips, down by 11.3% YOY and up by 29.8% YOY respectively. It imported 91,000t of galvanized steel sheets, rising by 9.1% YOY but dropping for 13 consecutive months. Besides, it imported 43,000t of heavy plates, up by 31.4% YOY and growing for eight consecutive months.
