Japan's steel exports fall 8.9% YOY in Jan-Apr

Customs statistics released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF) show that in April this year, Japan's steel exports reached 2.74 million tons, a decrease of 13.2% from the previous month and 3.6% from the same period last year. In January-April this year, Japan exported 11.07 million tons of steel products, a year-on-year decrease of 8.9%.
In terms of Japan's main steel product export market, in the first four months of this year, Japan's steel exports to South Korea totaled 1.37 million tons, a decrease of 27.1%, while exports to China increased by 6.4% to 1.71 million tons; exports to Thailand totaled 1.98 million tons, an increase of 29.0%; exports to the United States reached 339,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 7%.
