U.S. steel imports up by 14.1% MoM in Apr

The preliminary data of American Iron and Steel Institute showed that the United States imported about 2.63 million short tons (about 2.39 million tons) of steel in April, up by 14.1% month on month.
In particular, the imports of finished steel reached about 1.65 million short tons, down by 7.6% month on month.
In April, the United States imported most finished steel from South Korea, which reached 263,000 short tons and moved up by 10% month on month. The country imported 88,000 short tons of finished steel from Japan, up by 3% from last month. Besides, it imported 63,000 short tons from Turkey and 46,000 short tons from Vietnam, up by 49% and 4% from the previous month respectively. It imported 47,000 short tons from Germany, down by 42% compared with last month.
