Russia's Mechel saw raw coal output down by 38% YOY in Q1

On May 20, Russia's Mechel issued production report. The report released that in the first quarter (Q1) of this year, the company produced raw coal of about 2.64 million tons, down by 38% compared with about 4.28 million tons in the same period of last year and down by 6% compared with about 2.82 million tons in the fourth quarter of last year.
In Q1, Mechel saw an output of 771,000t of pig iron, down by 11% YOY and 13% MOM. It produced about 849,000t of steel, down by 3% YOY and 15% MOM.
In Q1, the company sold 977,000t of thermal coal, up by 11% MOM but down by 16% YOY. It sold 876,000t of coking coal, dropping by 38% from the same period last year and 23% from the previous quarter. The sales volume of PCI reached 254,000t, sharply down by 43% YOY and 33% MOM. It sold 360,000t of anthracite, up by 34% YOY but down by 4% MOM.
In this quarter, the company sold 327,000t of iron concentrate, dropping by 43% YOY and 36% MOM. It sold 616,000t of coke, down by 1% YOY and 19% MOM.
