In Q1 2021, the coal exports in the U.S . reached 18 . 79 million tons, an increase of 3 . 7% compared with a year earlier . The export volume of metallurgical coal was 9 . 39 million tons, down by 11 . 3% YoY, and that of thermal coal was 9 . 4 million tons, up by 24 . 7% YoY.
