According to the statistics of import and export trade of customs commodities released by Ministry of Finance Japan, Japan imported 174 million tons of coal in 2020, down by about 12.82 million tons or 6.8% from the previous year.
In the first quarter of 2021, Japan imported a total of about 46.82 million tons of coal, down by 302,000t or 0.6% YOY. Among them, Japan's coal imports in March were about 14.77 million tons, down by 9.0% YOY.
