EU launches sunset review investigation of safeguard measures for imported steel products

On February 26, 2021, the Committee on Safeguards of the World Trade Organization (WTO) issued a circular on February 26, 2021, to which the EU delegation submitted a safeguard investigation
On March 26, 2018, the European Commission launched investigation for safeguard measures of imported steel products. On July 18, 2018, the European Commission made a preliminary ruling on the case . On January 4, 2019, the WTO Committee on Safeguards issued the final ruling circular on safeguards submitted by the EU delegation on January 2, 2019, and decided to levy a 25% safeguard tax on steel products imported out of quota before February 4, 2019 . On May 17, 2019, the European Commission conducted the first review of this safeguard measure case, and on September 26, 2019, it made a final decision on this case.

On February 26, 2021, the European Commission launched the sunset review of safeguard measures for steel products and filed an investigation to assess whether the current safeguard measures for some steel products should be extended beyond the expiration date of June 30, 2021 . This case involves steel products under the CN (Common Nomenclature) codes 7208 100 00, 7209 15 00, 7209 16 10, 7210 20 00, 7210 70 80, 7209 18 99, 7208 51 20, 7219 11 00, 7219 31 00, 7214 30 00, 7214 20 00, 7222 11 11 11, 7221 00 10, 7213 10 00, 7216 31 10, 7301 10 00, 7306 30 41, 7306 61 10, 7304 11 00, 7304 51 12, 7305 11 00, 7306 11 10 and 7217 10 10, etc.
