Huludao Zinc Industry halts cadmium ingot production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 10 Mar 21 - One of major Chinese cadmium ingot 99.99%min producers, Huludao Zinc Industry Co. halted cadmium ingot 99.99%min production since early March due to the equipment overhaul and expects to resume the production in early April, a source from the company disclosed to Asian Metal.
The source noted that, "Due to the equipment overhaul, we stopped producing cadmium ingot 99.99%min production since 1th March and plan to halted it for around one month." They plan to produce about 100t during April. They hold back from selling presently as they believe that the prices would go up to RMB18,000/t (USD1.125/lb) EXW D/P in the coming week.
The producer, based on a production capacity of 1,200tpy of cadmium ingot 99.99%min, produced about 40t in February 2021 and around 850t totally in 2020. They hold about 160t of stocks now, up by about 40t from the end of January.
Currently, the mainstream prices of Chinese cadmium ingot 99.99%min increase to RMB16,700-17,200/t (USD1.16-1.20/lb) EXW D/P, up by RMB200/t (USD0.01/lb) from late last week. The market runs smoothly presently and most downstream consumers purchased by orders.
