1. Market Highlights
Supported by tight supply and higher purchasing prices from steel mills for next month, Chinese HC ferrochrome and LC ferrochrome prices trended up in January. In addition, silicochromium prices also went up in Chinese market due to higher raw material prices.
In January, downstream customers purchased actively for winter reserve, pushing up the prices of South African chrome ore and Turkish chrome ore in Chinese ports. CIF China prices for both materials also increased with sellers raising prices.
Chinese chromic salt prices went soft in January as downstream customers mainly consumed stocks and only purchased on orders. Chinese chrome metal prices were firm since sellers held prices firm . FOB prices of Chinese chrome metal stood still owing to high export cost.
