Handan to construct high-quality steel products production base with output value of RMB300 billion

On the seventh session of the 15th People's Congress of Handan held on February 1, Fan Chenghua, the acting mayor of the People's Government of Handan noted on his work report that Handan will implement an upgrading project of competitive traditional industries in 2021. Taking high-quality steel products, equipment manufacturing, food processing and other industries as key point, Handan will strive to partially put the relocation project of Hansteel old plant into production, complete construction and start operation of iron and steel relocation and upgrading projects of Huaxin in Fengfeng Mining Area and Puyang, Phase I of Taihang, Jinan and Xinhui in Wu'an, and start construction of iron and steel projects of Yuhua, Juxin, Phase II of Taihang in Wu'an.
Fan Chenghua noted that during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, Handan reduced iron-making capacity of 12.38 million tons, steel-making capacity of about 11.58 million tons, coal capacity of 11.52 million tons and coke capacity of about 11.61 million tons, exceeding the target of the 13th Five-Year Plan. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Handan will build a high-quality steel products production base with output value of RMB300 billion (USD46.44 billion), an advanced equipment manufacturing based with output of RMB200 billion (USD30.96 billion) and three industrial bases with output value of RMB100 billion (USD15.48 billion) for food processing, new materials and new energy respectively. Handan will foster bio-health industry with output value of RMB70 billion (USD10.84 billion) and other future-oriented industries such as electronic information and network with output value of RMB100 billion (USD15.48 billion).
