China's first order of imported recycled iron and steel raw material finishes customs clearance

According to the news from China Iron and Steel Association, a cargo ship carrying 3,002 tons of recycled iron and steel raw material made in Japan arrived at Longwu wharf, Port of Shanghai and the cargo successfully passed customs acceptance check on 29 January
On 31 December, 2020, Ministry of Ecology and Environment and other four departments jointly released an announcement, stating that qualified recycled iron and steel raw material won't be classified as solid waste from 1 January, 2021 on and can be imported without restriction.
Based on incomplete statistics, four import orders for recycled iron and steel raw material are signed after the release of the announcement. The details are as follows:
1. Ouyeel Lianjin entrusted its affiliated company Lianjin International to sign an import agreement for 3,000 tons of heavy recycled iron and steel raw material with Mitsui & Co . , Ltd. The material left for Shanghai from Japan on 14 January and passed customs inspection on 29 January;
2. Zhejiang Judong Co . , Ltd . signed an import agreement for 2,800 tons of recycled iron and steel raw material with Heiwashoji, Inc. The material is expected to depart Japan in the coming days and arrive at Chinese port in early February;
3. Shagang International Trade signed an import agreement for 3,000 tons of heavy recycled iron and steel raw material with Hanwa Co . , Ltd. The material is expected to depart Japan in mid-to-late February and arrive at Chinese port at the end of February;
4. Ansteel signed an import agreement for 2,000 tons of heavy recycled iron and steel raw material with Hanwa Co . , Ltd . The material is expected to depart Japan at the end of February and arrive at Port of Bayuquan in early March.
. After China abolished the import restriction on recycled iron and steel raw material, Ouyeel under Baowu Steel took the lead in finishing the first order.
