China's foreign trade scale hit new record high in 2020

On January 14, 2021, the General Administration of Customs of China released import and export data for the whole year of 2020, which was significantly better than expected, and the scale of foreign trade reached a new record high.
According to customs statistics, the total value of the import and export goods in 2020 was RMB32.16 trillion (USD4 . 96 trillion), an increase of 1 . 9% over that of 2019 . The export value was RMB17 . 93 trillion (USD2 . 77 trillion), an increase of 4%; the import value was RMB14 . 23 trillion (USD2 . 20 trillion), down by 0 . 7%; and the trade surplus was RMB3 . 7 trillion (USD0 . 57 trillion), up by 27 . 4%.
