A serpentinite magnesium ingot project constructed in Inner Mongolia

Construction of a serpentinite magnesium ingot project invested by Inner Mongolia Kaicheng Construction Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Inner Mongolia Xintai Group, has been concluded recently, and equipment used in drying, feeding, ball pressing, reduction, refinery and ingot casting has all been installed and commissioned. Sources from the company revealed that RMB100 million (USD15.44 million) has been invested into construction of the project site and the project is estimated to have an annual magnesium ingot production capacity of 10,000t.
Located in Tuquan County Recycling Economic Industrial Park, the project went into construction in 2014 and was the only serpentinite magnesium ingot project in eastern Inner Mongolia. It occupies a land of 280 Mu (18.67 hectares) and has a total investment of RMB886 million (USD137 million). When the whole project goes into operation, it will be able to achieve an annual production value of RMB1.5 billion (USD0.23 billion) and contribute an annual taxation of RMB86 million (USD13.28 million). Meanwhile, construction of a downstream 1.2Mt cement project also has basically ended. The two projects together are expected to effectively galvanize development of local mining, cement, magnesium alloy material and magnesium product industries.
When the serpentinite magnesium ingot project goes into operation, it will be able to produce 60,000tpy of magnesium ingot with a purity of 99.9%, 156,000tpy of Ni-Fe mixed metal and 600,000tpy of silicon-calcium slag used in cement production, bringing in a total annual production value of RMB725 million (USD112 million).
