China Tin Group overhauls zinc ingot production line

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 12 Jan 21 - China Tin Group, one of major zinc ingot producers in Guangxi, started to overhaul its zinc ingot production line from last week, with the maintenance expected to last about two weeks, and expects to produce about 2,000t of zinc ingot in January, a month-on-month decrease of about 2,500t, a source from the company revealed to Asian Metal.
"We stopped production for overhauling the zinc ingot production line since last week. This overhaul is the company's regular overhaul and may last about two weeks. The output is expected to reduce by about half compared to normal conditions," the source said. The company uses raw material of zinc concentrate, about 80% of which is from the group's own mine and 20% of which is from external purchases, to produce zinc ingot, which is mainly sold to the downstream galvanizing industry by long-term orders.
With an annual production capacity of 60,000t for zinc ingot, the company produced about 4,500t in December and expects to produce about 2,000t in January, holding no stock for the time being. The company totally produced about 50,000t of the product in 2020, in line with 2019.
Mainstream prices for zinc ingot 99.995%min stood at RMB21,250-21,350/t (USD3,281-3,296/t) in warehouse Guangzhou on Monday, down by RMB510/t (USD78.74/t) from last Friday.
