BEIJING (Asian Metal) 8 Jan 21 - One of the major nickel sulfate producers in Central China, Daye Nonferrous Metals Co., Ltd., began to suspend the production of nickel sulfate at the end of December due to annual equipment maintenance, a source from the company disclosed to Asian Metal.
"From December 24th, we will start a one-month annual equipment maintenance, and there will be no nickel sulfate output in January," the source said, and revealed that the plant plans to resume production in early February. After the resumption of production, the nickel sulfate output will remain as stable as before.
The plant purchases copper-nickel mixed ore to produce crude nickel sulfate, with an annual production capacity of 3,000t of nickel sulfate. The company produced about 2,400t in 2019 and about 1,600t in 2020. He produced about 70t of crude nickel sulfate in December, unchanged MOM. He holds no stocks now.
Mainstream prices for nickel sulfate Ni22%min Co0.4max stood at RMB33,000-33,500/t (USD5,105-5,183/t) in Chinese market on Thursday, stable from early this week. The domestic market is currently in short supply, and the plant believes that nickel sulfate prices would remain firm in the coming week.
