  • Ministry of Transport: no port construction fees to be levied next year

    On December 24, the Chinese Ministry of Transport issued a notification on stopping collection of port construction fees, announcing that from January 1, 2021 on port construction fees will be no longer levied.

    China imposes a port construction fee policy starting on October 1, 2011 and to expire on December 31, 2020. From January 1, 2021 on, no port construction fees will be levied on goods transported via ports opening to foreign vessels .

    From January 1, 2021 to March 31, 2021 will be the interim period for the new policy, and all related work needs to be done by March 31, 2021.
