On the evening of December 21, Pengxin International Mining announced that its cobalt hydroxide project with an annual production capacity of 7,000 metal tons (including phase one of an annual capacity of 3,000 metal tons and phase two to increase to 7,000 metal tons annually) is located in the Shituru Mining area of Congo (Kinshasa); phase one has finished trial production and commenced formal production on December 18, 2020.
Installed with advanced energy-saving equipment introduced from China, the project has built advanced and high-efficiency cobalt hydroxide production lines; its main product is cobalt hydroxide and side product is copper cathode (LME A grade). When the project goes into full capacity operation, it can process ores of about 180,000t annually and produce cobalt of over 3,000 metal tons annually.
