Chinese market: As magnesite prices went up continuously affected by the implementation of the policies for the integration of magnesite mines in Liaoning and environmental inspections on larger scales, over 90% of producers of caustic calcined magnesia and dead burned magnesia producers in Yingkou of Liaoning and some fused magnesia producers halted production in November 2020. Stimulated by tighter policies, many downstream customers raised their purchase volumes and many traders made replenishments, leading to less supply and more demand in the domestic magnesia market. Therefore, prices of magnesia of all specifications rose rapidly in China in November 2020.
Chinese magnesia export market: Learning that the Liaoning government was conducting stricter policies for environmental inspections and the integration of magnesite mines, overseas customers sent more enquiries and made more purchases from China in November 2020. In addition, prices of all specifications of magnesia went up continuously in the domestic market, boosting the increase of export prices, especially against the backdrop of the continuous appreciation of RMB.
