1. Market Highlights
Stimulated by growing demand from downstream industries and relatively tight supply in some regions, average prices of CRC and HGI coil in Chinese leading markets struggled to move up by around RMB100/t (USD15/t) this month. Most steel mills remained very active in CRC and HGI coil production for higher profit compared with other steel products like rebar and HRC . However, most traders became cautious in replenishing stocks before the National Day holiday considering the large price gap between CRC and HRC . However, traders and downstream consumers became very cautious in replenishing stocks at such high prices, worrying about price declines.
In the international market, CRC and HGI coil prices in many Asian countries like Vietnam and India continued to move up on growing demand and higher production cost. However, they showed some signs of weakening in Malaysia after the new round outbreak of COVID-19 . Chinese CRC and HGI coil export prices did not show big changes this month but showed signs of rising at the end of the month.
