The Department of Ecology and Environment of Henan has rolled out science-based special campaign which aims to effectively beat air pollution during autumn and winter.
The inspections are carried out on a one-to-one basis, with inspectors working at designated plants from October 20 to December 31, 2020.
Companies to be investigated include those required to eliminate, suspend or shut down excess production capacity by the end of this year and those with outdated equipment, facilities and technology; those from major polluting industries such as iron and steel, primary aluminum, cement, traditional coal chemical, coking, construction material and casting; those with two or more days of emission higher than year-to-date average; those haven't completed rectification, etc.
Inspectors will mainly check on the implementation of pollution control targets, solutions and emission standards. They will also inspect the operation of pollution monitoring and control devices.
Up to now, Henan environment authority has sent inspectors to 3,483 major companies across the province.
