Changzhi city to reduce 2.88 million tons of coking capacity in batches in 2020

Changzhi city in Shanxi Province recently issued a notice on further reducing and shutting down coking capacity in the city in 2020.
According to the notice, the 2.88 million tons capacity reduction task would be conducted by an integrated new coking project and would be optimized or adjusted according to actual situation.
The notice noted that the capacity would be closed in batches based on environmental quality, safety risks and coking facilities around the city. The first batch includes 4.3m coke ovens in Luzhou district, Tunliu district and Huguan county; the second batch involves the 710,000tpy coke oven of Lubao Group Coking Co., Ltd. in Lucheng district and the 600,000tpy coke oven of Changyuan Coking Co., Ltd. in Qinyuan county. The first batch of coke ovens to be shut down shall be emptied by October 31st and dismantled by the end of December; the second batch should be shut down before the end of December. Other 4.3m coke ovens will be shut down gradually in accordance with relevant requirements.
