1. Market Highlights
Given the weak demand from downstream clients, the brown fused alumina market remained dim in September. In spite of the high stocks and slow sales, some producers resumed production due to the coming heating season. Considering the firm production cost, the suppliers held the prices unchanged and the prices of Chinese brown fused alumina remained stable in September.
Given the price decline of raw material alumina, the Chinese white fused alumina suppliers cut the prices in early September. Later, they held the prices unchanged due to the stable prices of alumina. Thus, the prices of Chinese white fused alumina moved down in early September and kept stable after the second week of September.
In spite of the stable prices of brown fused alumina in domestic market, the export traders raised the prices due to depreciation of USD against CNY. Therefore, the export prices of Chinese brown fused alumina moved up in September.
Although the domestic prices of white fused alumina reduced, the export suppliers lifted the export prices with depreciation of USD against CNY. Therefore, the export prices of Chinese white fused alumina increased in September.
