Germany crude steel output down by 25% YOY in July

Crude steel production in Germany was down by 24.70% YOY in July due to capacity cut to balance the drop in demand caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, German steel federation WV Stahl said on August 24.
Germany's crude steel production was 2.42 million tonnes in July 2020, down from 3.22 million tonnes in the same period of 2019.
The July 2020 output is close to the lowest point in production in Germany reached in the first half of 2009, when July output was 2.40 million, WV Stahl said.
Steel output from German basic oxygen furnaces (BOFs), which is mainly used in the production of flat steel products, decreased by 29% YOY to 1.67 million tonnes in July.
