Market Highlights
In July, operating rates of cathode material producers increased to some extents, but many battery grade lithium carbonate producers still bore destocking pressure, so lithium carbonate prices lacked upward momentum. High-nickel ternary material suppliers received more orders, but the lithium hydroxide market saw limited spot transactions and prices for the material moved down.
On the power auto market, NEV sales increased on a month-to-month basis, so in July LNCMO producers received more orders compared with last month. But as battery plants cut their target prices to quite low levels, in the first half of July LNCMO prices moved down slightly . By late July, LNCMO prices rebounded as a result of rising cobalt sulfate prices.
The 3C market saw stable transactions, so major LCO producers received orders steadily. From mid-July on, LCO suppliers raised their prices owing to rising cobalt tetroxide prices.
Operating rates of consumers from aerospace and pharmaceutical markets decreased YOY, so demand for lithium metal weakened and its prices moved down further.
