The mineral geological survey project in Ningxiang-Xiangtan manganese ore concentration area of Hunan Province, undertaken and implemented by Hunan Geological Survey Institute, has passed the field acceptance smoothly and was rated as excellent
It is reported that the mining area is large, spanning 25 1:50,000 drawings and covering an area of 780,000 square kilometers. It has various manganese ore specifications and different ore-forming conditions . After nearly a year's efforts, the survey team summarized the metallogenic regularities of regional manganese ore, identified two prospecting target areas, and found one new deposit . According to the preliminarily estimate, the new manganese ore resources would be 5 . 285 million tons, reaching the scale of medium manganese deposit.
It is predicted that there is great potential for manganese ore prospecting in the area of Jiutanchong-Nanmuchong. At present, some mining enterprises have expressed the intention of further invest and explore the Nanmuchong manganese ore area.
