On June 3, Dazhou government signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Liaoning Fangda Group and also entered into a cooperation agreement on the relocation, transition and development of Sichuan Dazhou Iron and Steel Group (the "project") with Jiangxi Fangda steel Group. Both sides will speed up the project through phased construction to realize an annual production capacity of 10 million tons of high-quality steel products, making Dazhou Iron and Steel Group an important modern iron and steel industrial base in Sichuan-Chongqing region.
Dazhou Iron and Steel Group now has an annual production capacity of 3 million tons of steel and 3.5 million tons of steel products. The company suffered heavy losses for three years in a row from 2014 to 2016 and thus were on the brink of insolvency. In addition, with the urbanization of Dazhou, the company's current site is no longer in the suburb but the main urban area.
In 2017, the company was required by China's central environmental inspection team and the provincial government to relocate to a new region.
