Shandong to produce coke on coal consumption

On May 21, Department of Industry and Information Technology of Shandong, Shandong Development and Reform Commission, Department of Ecology and Environment of Shandong jointly issued the notice on coking projects management and coal production in order to promote high-quality development of the coking industry in Shandong province, strictly control new production capacity and reduce coal consumption.
The capacity of coke oven carbonization chamber with a height of 5.5 meters or above shall be included in the list of coking projects in Shandong province in 2020. The device in the list can be used for production and the capacity can be used for replacement. Coking projects which are not included in the list shall be checked and halted by the local governments; no project shall be resumed or put into production until it is included in the list.
For coke oven chambers with height of 4.3 meters of Linyi Ye China Coking Co., Ltd.'s 1,000,000t project, Jinneng Science and Technology Co., Ltd.'s 800,000t project and Shandong Tiexiong Metallurgical Technology Co., Ltd.'s 1,100,000t coking project; because of problems related to approved fund-raising and the implementation of coal consumption alternatives, these projects are allowed to quit at the end of 2021, but the capacity shall not be used for replacement.
In order to produce no more than 32 million tons of coke in 2020 in Shandong, companies in the list and above-mentioned three companies shall produce based on coal consumption. The output shall be controlled at 76%, 70%, 60% and 60% of approved capacities for steel-coke combined enterprises, companies with production capacity above 1 million tons, companies with production capacity below 1 million tons and listed companies with carbonization chamber height of 4.3 meters.
