Sichuan completes remediation at 55 tailings ponds

According to the environmental protection authority of Sichuan, by late April, the province has completed remediation work at 55 tailings ponds that posed risks to ecological environment, with unfinished work to be pushed forward in an orderly manner.
As of the end of April, Sichuan has inspected 259 out of 260 tailings ponds and found out 191 tailing ponds posing a threat to the environment, of which 55 tailings ponds have completed remediation work, with the completion rate up by 57.14% from late February. A total of 169 tailings ponds were checked for potential safety problems and 38 ponds had safety issues which have now been fully addressed.
