In April, due to the weak downstream demand, the Chinese black silicon carbide market saw slow buying activities. Therefore, the Chinese suppliers further lowered the prices successively to compete for more orders . Thus, the prices of black silicon carbide further moved down in China in April . However, in view of weak demand, the market remained slow in spite of price decline, leading to increasing stocks . Since mid-April, some producers reduced or suspended production.
In April, the green silicon carbide smelters kept regular production. The supply of green silicon carbide in China became sufficient and the demand kept weak, leading a price decline of Chinese green silicon carbide this month.
With the spreading of COVID-19 in Europe and America and Southeast Asia, demand from foreign markets decreased and most end consumers refused to purchase because of production restrictions, and strongly held a wait-and-see attitude towards the market outlook. In addition, prices of silicon carbide in domestic market decreased, resulting in a price decline of export price of silicon carbide moved down in April.
