Tongliao completes rectification work for primary aluminum industry

According to Tongliao Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, Tongliao has completed all rectification work for the city's primary aluminum industry as of March 6, 2020.
In 2016, the central environmental inspection team found that a number of primary aluminum projects were being build in Huolin Gol, including projects that started construction before getting approvals and failed to implement scheduled capacity replacement, along with other environmental pollution problems, which violated the state policy on reducing production capacity. Since getting feedback, Tongliao government had been rolling out rectification work as demanded by Inner Mongolia government, including strict control over primary aluminum production capacity, the acceleration of capacity replacement and strict precautions against the resurgence of illegal or unregulated projects. During the rectification period, a total of about 1.39 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of primary aluminum production capacity was replaced, including 553,000 tpa to Inner Mongolia Jinlian Aluminum Material Co., Ltd. and 835,100 tpa to Inner Mongolia Chuangyuan Metal Co., Ltd.
So far, Tongliao has had total primary aluminum production capacity of about 3.05 Mtpa. Of which, about 2.32 Mtpa has been built, with 678,000 tpa in construction and 47,800 tpa to be built.
