Construction of Kambove Hydrometallurgical Copper Project started on January 14, 2020 and has been ongoing in an orderly way, with trial production projected to begin in July 2021 and formal production in late October. The project has a construction period of about 21 months and a service life of nine years.
Lualaba Copper Project commenced trial production in November 2019 and produced the first batch of up-to-standard blister copper product, with formal production started in January 2020. As of March 19, 2020, Lualaba Copper Smelter, the owner of the project, has produced about 12,000t of blister copper, 33,000t of sulfuric acid, and 376 . 5t of sulfur dioxide liquid . Up to March 20, the smelter has purchased, or on an OEM basis, about 32,000t of copper metal in concentrate.
Chambishi Southeast Orebody Exploration and Construction Project has basically finished cold commissioning which commenced in August 2018 and is on track to start production formally in April 2020. So far, the south and north parts of the project have been well-equipped with mining facilities and fully staffed with Zambian workers . The current mining capacity is about 3,000t per day and the concentration plant has reached targeted production capacity . The southeast orebody would ramp up production further in Q2 2020 and is projected to reach production capacity of 10,000tpd in Q4 2020.
