Ukraine imposes special duty on Russian electricity and coal

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to impose a special duty upon Russian electricity and coal, except for anthracite and coking coal, from April 1, 2020.
The relevant resolution was presented by Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture Ihor Petrashko at a government meeting on March 18, according to reports.
"It is proposed to introduce a special duty on certain goods from the Russian Federation that are imported into the customs territory of Ukraine, namely on electricity according to codes and all types of coal, except for anthracite and coking coal, in the amount of 65% from April 1, 2020," Petrashko said.
In October 2019, the Cabinet of Ministers set a 2% duty on imports of Russian electricity.
