1 Market Highlights
In February, the novel coronavirus spread across the country. The government later notified various enterprises to delay resumption, so the entire market was basically stagnant. Although some bismuth ingot producers in Henan and Hunan did not stop production during the Spring Festival, they only maintained basic production as bismuth ingot is a by-product. Due to the stagnation of traffic, the spot market saw limited transactions. In the first half of February, prices for bismuth ingot remained stable. After the Spring Festival holiday, small and medium-sized traders in the market had a high sentiment to replenish stocks and actively purchased. Bismuth ingot producers held back from selling and kept firm prices due to holding a small inventory, so prices for bismuth ingot rose slightly.
Due to epidemic restrictions, domestic producers had limited production due to supply constraints of raw materials. In addition, traders' stocking sentiment rose, and domestic bismuth ingot prices moved up. Affected by the rise in domestic prices, export prices for bismuth ingot also increased.
