1. Market Highlights
In January, scarce deals of manganese flake were made at low prices with the coming of the Spring Festival as Tianyuan Manganese and most manganese flake producers signed orders for the material to be produced before and after the Spring Festival or even the material to be produced in mid-to-late February at the end of last December. A small number of manganese flake producers and suppliers with stocks mostly held back from selling and tended to raise prices.
After the Christmas holiday and New Year Day holiday came to an end, overseas customers began to make purchases, resulting in rising prices in both Chinese market and export market. Chinese logistics service providers stopped operation in around mid-January, so overseas downstream customers purchased manganese flake proactively, further supporting manganese flake prices to go up.
On the whole, prices for manganese flake 99.7%min showed a slow uptrend in January . At the end of the month, mainstream prices for Chinese manganese flake 99.7%min were RMB10,500-10,700/t (USD1,504-1,532/t) EXW D/P, up by RMB300/t (USD42.97/t) from the end of last December. Export prices for the material stood at USD1,500-1,530/t, up by USD60/t from the end of last December.
