Foskor Zirconia to resume normal graphite electrode consumption

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 13 Jan 20 - Foskor Zirconia Pty Ltd., a major graphite electrode consumer in South Africa, plans to resume normal consumption from late this month, a source from the company reported to Asian Metal.
According to the source, they cut production from early last month for the Christmas Day and New Year holidays. "We consumed around 22t last month and might 25t this month," said the source, which might use 30t next month.
They have three furnaces in total and one of them is now in maintenance, which might be finished late this month.
Based on the consumption capacity of 500tpy, they consumed around 350t in 2019, up from around 240t in 2018 and hold around 120t in stock.
They mainly buy HP graphite electrode D300mm from China. Current mainstream prices stand at USD1,850-1,950/t FOB China, which might rebound next month.
