It is learnt from Henan Bureau of Geology & Mineral Resources on December 23 that the geological exploration team of Henan found a super large molybdenum-tungsten deposit at Lengshui-Chitudian in Luanchuan, Luoyang after about ten-year exploration. Accordingly, 3,170,400t of molybdenum, 439,600t of tungsten, 361,600t of lead, 2,362,900t of zinc, 2.71t of copper and 391.82t of silver are added, equivalent to a new found of 39 large molybdenum mines, 14 large tungsten mines and 5 large lead-zinc mines.
Based on the current prices of molybdenum and tungsten, the potential value of the deposit is about 500 billion yuan (71.44 billion US dollars). Up to now, Luanchuan, "China's capital of molybdenum", has accumulated reserves of 6,317,700t of molybdenum, 1,382,800t of tungsten, 991,800t of lead, 3,378,300t of zinc, 1,120.83t of silver and 82,900t of copper. After the achievement is submitted, Luanchuan is expected to become "the world's molybdenum capital" with the tungsten and molybdenum resources surpassing Chile's Spence Mine (2,570,000t).
