Shanxi carries out waste lead battery centralized collection pilots

According to the Department of Ecological Environment of Shanxi, the "Implementation plan for the pilot work of the centralized collection and trans regional transfer system of waste lead batteries in Shanxi" has been issued recently, in which a series of measures are proposed to strive to achieve a standard recovery rate of more than 40% of waste lead batteries in the province by 2020.

There are two categories of companies involved in the pilot. The first category is the lead battery production enterprises in the province and the lead battery production enterprises outside the province with registered branches and a certain market share in Shanxi; the second one is the enterprises holding the hazardous waste operation license in the province and the operation category includes the waste lead battery.

The pilot unit shall establish a collection, transfer and disposal mode of "collection network, centralized transfer center, utilization and disposal enterprise" for waste lead batteries. Priority shall be given to the use of the existing collection system to establish no less than three centralized transfer centers, and no less than three collection places shall be set up in each centralized transfer center.
