The Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) of China recently issued the 2019-2020 autumn/winter comprehensive air pollution control action plan for Fen-Wei Plain.
The plan calls for a structure adjustment in heavy-pollution industry based on a detailed schedule in a bid to finish the work on time and make substantial progress.
The plan also promotes the upgrade of traditional industrial clusters, including coking, coal washing, casting, refractory, nonferrous metals and so on. The "one-size-fit-all" approach is strictly prohibited.
In addition, iron and steel companies are required to make ultra-low emission transformation through adherence to high standards.
Other requirements include a comprehensive control on air pollution from industrial furnaces and kilns. For instance, primary aluminum companies shall promote the construction of flue gas desulfurization system and build a closed and efficient flue gas collection system.
