According to data released by General Administration of Customs, China didn't imported iron and steel scrap from overseas market in August; it was the first time in nearly 20 years that China's import volume for iron and steel scrap was zero.
After the implementation of overall import restrictions on solid waste in China to protect environment, import volume for iron and steel scrap has shrunk for many years. As the iron and steel from end-of-life vehicles and demolished buildings will return to supply chain in 2020, the supply of iron and steel scrap in China would increase sharply.
