MEE releases 40 key pollutant discharge units

On August 5, Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) announced to the public the list of 40 key pollutant discharge units whose automatic monitoring data greatly exceeded the standard in the second quarter of 2019, and it performed inspections on three major pollutant discharge units.
From the regional distribution, Liaoning (5 companies), Hainan (5), Shanxi (4) and Hebei (4) ranked the top four in the list. A total of 18 pollutant discharge exceeded units in the four provinces accounted for 45% of the total.
The three units of Datong Coal Mine Guangfa Chemical Industry Co. Ltd., Yanhua Industry Base Sewage Treatment Plant in Zhangshu of Jiangxi, and Ningxia Jiyuan Metallurgical Group Co., Ltd. had problems of repeatedly exceeding sewage standards for a long time. MEE decided to supervise the above-mentioned three sewage units in order to effectively conduct pressure, implement responsibilities and urge the discharge of sewage units to meet the standards.
