1. Market Highlights
Prices of wire rod and rebar in most Chinese leading markets fluctuated slightly and did not show big increase or decrease in July. On one hand, the demand from downstream industries continued to weaken in the traditional off-season and stocks kept moving up with sufficient supply from steel mills. On the other hand, the government carried out environmental protection inspection in some regions of North China, supporting prices from falling down to some degrees. In the international market, steel mills in South Asian countries tried to increase prices but failed due to the weak demand from downstream consumers. Taking all factors into consideration, insiders think prices of wire rod and rebar in Chinese market would go down slightly in the coming month under the pressure from high stocks.
