In order to improve air environment quality, Shandong province keeps upgrading air pollution control measures
As a major energy consumer in China, Shandong province mainly consumes coal with heavy and high polluting industries and high energy consumption industries taking a large proportion. Thus, the situation of air pollution prevention and control is severe.
According to an inspector from local market supervision and administration bureau, Shandong has established a solid emission standard system of air pollutants, including one regional comprehensive emission standard of air pollutants, five emission standards on thermal power, iron & steel and other industries and eight emission standards of volatile organic compounds.
The revised version of standard revokes the privilege of high polluting industries in densely populated areas and adopts different emission strategies according to specific area and stage. The whole province is divided into core area, key area and general area, in which emission limits vary . Enterprises need to satisfy requirements of the area that they are located.
Based on the new air pollution control strategy, the extra-low emission standard is applicable to all coal-fired boilers within the province, and it will be adopted in non-coal industries, such as iron & steel industry and coking industry. In key areas, the standard will also be introduced to cement, ceramics, lime, glass and other industries of building materials; in general areas, the emission standard on cement, ceramics, glass and other industries of building materials are stricter than national standard.
. As the provincial compulsory environment protection standards, the revised version of regional comprehensive emission standard of air pollutants and other two regional standards were released and will formally come into effect on 1 November, 2019.
