China to issue first batch of H2 2019 import licenses on waste metals by late June

Liu Youbin, spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE), said at MEE's May Press Conference that from July 1 on eight solid waste metals including steel, copper and aluminum will be moved from non-restricted import catalogue into restricted import catalogue; from May on import companies can submit to their local environment authorities import applications for the involved metals; and first import licenses for H2 2019 are expected to be issued by late June.
