Special program for safety production to be launched in Shandong

On 29 May, People's Government of Shandong Province released "Notification of special program for safety production to celebrate 70th anniversary of the People's Republic of China". According to the notification, Shandong will launch the special program for safety production until the end of October. The action will focus on key areas, key industries, key enterprises, key links and processes.
Chemical industry parks, chemical enterprises gathering areas, key monitoring areas and dangerous chemicals harbor areas are listed as key areas. Key industries include oil refining, chlor-alkali, coal chemical industry, fine chemical industry, coal mine and non-coal mine areas, metallurgy, industry and trade, dust-related explosion industry, civil explosive goods industry and so on.
According to the notification, all high-risk enterprises and units involved in flammable and explosive substances, highly toxic substances and the production, operation, storage, transportation and disposal of hazardous wastes, which are liable to cause mass casualties and mass injuries, should organize experts to conduct risk surveys and safety assessments. If there are major potential safety hazards, they shall be ordered to immediately rectify or stop production and rectify. For major potential safety hazards discovered by investigation and inspection, specific rectification plans shall be worked out one by one. If the rectification can not be completed on time, or the safety production can not be guaranteed, the production shall be discontinued for rectification. And if the circumstances are serious, the plants shall be closed according to law.
