The supply of black silicon carbide in Chinese market was eased this month. Downstream demand was sluggish, and upstream producers accumulated inventory of nearly half a month output and black silicon carbide prices also dropped slightly. Some domestic companies that suspended production were actively preparing for production resumption. A producer in Inner Mongolia resumed production in late March and made normal deliveries in April. Two producers in Yongdeng, Gansu are expected to resume production in May. The environmental protection situation in Kuandaigou, Tianzhu remained severe, but producers installed with environmentally friendly equipment are expected to resume production in June and July. Black silicon carbide demand was sluggish and supply was growing, so prices would continue to drop slowly in May.
The supply of green silicon carbide in the Chinese market was still slightly tight this month, and price remained firm. Some downstream consumers were still unable to buy enough natural lump. A Xinjiang-based producer resumed production in early April, and the market supply was supplemented. The plant planned to increase production in May, and then the natural lump supply in the market would no longer be in shortage.
Export prices for Chinese silicon carbide declined this month, due to the decline in domestic prices and the fact that overseas customers were generally conservative in buying activities.
