Prices of both non-grain oriented electrical steel and grain oriented electrical steel in major markets of China saw a downward trend during this month on weak customer demand. Major steel mills such as Baosteel, WISCO and Shougang Steel all announced to raise their list prices of NGO electrical steel for May production. Nevertheless, seeing the sharp price increase after the Spring Festival holiday, customers without urgent need for materials were mostly holding a wait-and-see attitude and refusing to place orders. Having no confidence in the market outlook, traders were reluctant to build large stockpiles. Insiders suppose prices of NGO electrical steel would drop further in the coming month.
