China to promote extra-low emission in iron and steel industry

On 28 April, Ministry of Ecology and Environment, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Transport jointly released the comments on promoting extra-low emission in iron and steel industry.
By the end of 2020, it aims to see significant progress in extra-low emission transformation of major iron and steel companies in key regions, strive for transformation of about 60% of production capacities and promote extra-low emission transformation of iron and steel companies in other regions in a well-organized way. By the end of 2025, it aims to finish the vast majority of extra-low emission transformation of iron and steel companies in key regions and strive for transformation of above 80% of production capacities nationwide.
