1. Market Highlights
In March, Chinese manganese flake producers that halted production earlier before resumed production successively and the overall operating rate went up gradually. In early March, mainstream transaction prices for Chinese manganese flake were RMB13,000-13,200/t (USD1,935-1,965/t), down by RMB200/t (USD29.77/t) from late February . As most producers executed concluded orders, the market saw tight spot supply . However, downstream demand didn't improve obviously with slow purchasing activities . Thus, the supply was able to meet downstream demand . As a result, prices for manganese flake stood relatively stable for around four weeks . In late March, most downstream customers were pessimistic about market outlook due to implementation of the new VAT rate in April . Meanwhile, manganese flake producers concluded deals smoothly and had no intention of cutting prices with limited stocks in hand . Generally speaking, prices for Chinese manganese flake stayed steady in March.
